So Goes the Nation
Aren't blogs, like, so 2005?
I got robbed last week. And when I say robbed, I mean I was connived into voluntarily giving someone money. It was at work, out of my drawer, and it was $100. Confusion and misdirection and you're either a magician or a thief. And the police said there was no crime because I voluntarily gave him the money. It was humiliating. A control freak losing control is not enjoyable. In fact, it was the focus of my entire week. But whatever, I'll punch him in the nose if I ever see him again.
And that's exactly the worst part of it all. I lost a small slice of myself that cares for other individuals, that wants to help the poor or educate the masses. And I don't know if I can get that back.
I had the chance to see Barak Obama speak today, but I declined, because it required that I purchase his new book, The Audacity of Hope, to do so. It's a book that I'd like to read, but not for $25. Besides, he's not even president yet.
Saturday, I'm playing in a poker tournament that my roommate is hosting. I'm pretty excited about it, and if anyone is going to be in the Chicago area (ahem) and wants to play in a poker tournament (it costs money), holla back.
Speaking of location, it's important that everyone in Ohio vote this time around, as in, next month. Why? Because Blackwell is running for Governor and there are few Ohio politicians who come off as being more miserable human beings than Blackwell (Ney and Trafficant, anyone?). He's part of the reason Bush won Ohio in 2004. I'm serious, there's even a movie being made about it.
Ohio in the fall is one of the most beautiful things I know. Seeing it makes me sad that I don't get to see it. Don't you just love the nip in the air while you walk down a multicolored tree lined street sipping a hot chai that warms your face and hands? Yeah.

I don't generally walk the streets, but I concur with the rest. Particularly the scents and colors and chilliness of fall. I wish I walked the streets. But in the way you meant it, not in the crack-addict/prostitute/homeless person way that it might have seemed I was implying.
I lost a poker tournament this past weekend. But I wasn't the first one out, so that's good. I don't like Texas Hold Them. I don't like Texas.
Tell me the story of how you were robbed/conned. It sounds interesting.

I think you'll be able to get it back.
Although Knox County is a close second, afll is best in Athens. Nothing will ever beat Donkey Chai, however. I don't care if it is made from powder. I think it was the company, anyway.
how were you tricked? so we can all avoid it in the future.

I wish times a thousand that I could play in the poker tournament. But I will be in Seattle. And fall doesn't really exist in Seattle, so I too am nostalgic for Ohio fall. The seasons here are Summmer, Rain and Summer again. We are now in Rain. And finally, I am sorry about the robbery.

That's totally happened to me--the voluntary robbery, I mean. Not quite $100, but $30 or something. I think it happens to everyone once. It sucks.

Fall is the only season I miss out here in Cali.
